The New York Giants created a hullabaloo on Thursday. News emerged that the Giants swung a trade for a former Top 10 NFL Draft pick. The Giants and the Arizona Cardinals agreed to a trade that sent linebacker Isaiah Simmons to the Meadowlands.

“Trade: Isaiah Simmons is being traded from the Cardinals to the NY Giants for a seventh-round pick in 2024,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Thursday morning.

The Cardinals drafted Simmons with the 8th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Simmons came into the NFL with high expectations after a celebrated career at Clemson. He was part of a group that won the College Football Playoff championship in 2018.

After three seasons with Arizona, Simmons recorded 7.5 sacks, 258 combined tackles, 11 QB hits, and 13 TFL. His most productive season came in 2022 when he recorded two interceptions, seven passes defended, two forced fumbles, 99 tackles, four QB hits, and 4.0 sacks.

He will join the Giants now, who hope to build off a successful 2022 after this trade. After several seasons in the basement, New York rose up to win one of the NFC Wild Card spots in last year’s NFL Playoffs. The Giants won their first playoff game since they defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI over the Minnesota Vikings. So, it’s safe to say that Isaiah Simmons is going to a completely different situation.

The NFL world had lots to say after the news of the Giants trade emerged.
