Last year, Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver George Pickens had a stellar debut season with the team, immediately establishing himself as a dominant receiver in the NFL. But he seems to think he didn’t get enough credit for his performance.
During an interview with College2Pro this week, George Pickens revealed that he felt like he “got snubbed” out of making the Pro Bowl last season.
“Year 2 goals are Pro Bowl, and I feel like last year I feel like I got snubbed,” Pickens told Bo Marchionte of College2Pro.com. “Cause there wasn’t a lot of guys in there at the Pro Bowl that excited me. Then the Super Bowl. The two bowls. A lot of RAC, run after catch. Two bowls for sure.”
Pickens had a fine season, finishing the year with 52 catches for 801 yards and four touchdowns. But he only had 100-yard game as a receiver and finished fourth in the rookie class alone in yards, receptions and receiving yards per game – not to mention the rest of the NFL.
Given those numbers, it’s pretty bold for him to suggest he was “snubbed,” the NFL world roasted him for his comments.
Whether Pickens believes it or not, he’s going to need much, much more productive to have a chance to make the Pro Bowl next season.
