Emmitt Smith knows what it takes to win a Super Bowl — he has three rings and a Hall of Fame career to prove it.
With his Dallas Cowboys coming off a Thursday night win over the Seattle Seahawks, Smith was asked if the team stands a chance to go all the way.
“I’m not concerned by the talent,” he said via Fox. “I’m more concerned about what’s between our ears. Because 90% of the game is mental, and the other is 10% physical. So, what’s between the ears is extremely important. How you prepare and how you go out there and deliver on the football field on a consistent basis week in and week out is something that I look for.”
Quarterback Dak Prescott continued to stay hot as the team climbed to 9-3 on the season. In a way he simplified his approach and did what he knew he was capable of. In the last seven games, Prescott has 21 touchdown passes and only two interceptions.
So the talent is certainly there, but it goes beyond that Smith said.
“Are we developing the chemistry that we need to develop with the intensity that needs to come along with every game and every play no matter who we play? If we play somebody that is less talented than us, let’s dominate them,” he added.
Luckily for the Cowboys, Prescott has very much stepped up as a leader.
