Earlier this month, the New York Giants made one of the biggest moves of the NFL offseason to date, releasing former Pro Bowl cornerback James Bradberry.
The Giants seemingly made the move for salary cap relief. Releasing Bradberry saved the Giants $10.2 million in salary-cap space.
Bradberry was excellent in 2021, starting 16 games and recording four interceptions.
Once he was released, it was clear that Bradberry would be one of the highest priority free agents that left available in the NFL. And he’s now signed with another NFC East team, so the Giants will still see him a lot.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Wednesday that Bradberry has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year, $10 million deal.
Bradberry will now play alongside another former Pro Bowl cornerback, Darius Slay. That could be one of the best secondaries in the NFL.
Many around the NFL world are extremely excited to see what the Eagles will look like with the addition of Bradberry next season.
Slay certainly seems excited about the move, tweeting “Yes sir!!! Let’s get it” following the news on Wednesday.
While many are excited about Bradberry joining the Eagles, Giants fans are certainly dreading facing him two times each season for as long as he’s in Philadelphia.
This is the latest of some big moves that the Eagles have made this NFL offseason. The team recently traded for star wide receiver A.J. Brown and brought in two big draft picks on defense in Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean.
The Eagles made a huge leap last season, going 9-8 making the playoffs after winning only four games in 2020.
Given the impact players that the organization has brought in, the team could be a true contender in the NFC next season if Bradberry has a similar impact to what he had over the years with the Giants.
