The Philadelphia Eagles are off to 3-0 start in defense of their Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. The Eagles have been largely led by their defense so far this season, as their offense has yet to bring things to the championship level it operated at last season.
That’s what makes some injury news concerning Philadelphia’s defense, broken by one of the league’s most prominent Insiders, particularly concerning.
“Eagles placed OLB Nolan Smith on Injured Reserve,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“That’s not good, wonder what happened. I hope it’s not a reaggrivation of his tricep,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Not particularly concerned. If Josh Davis keeps this up and Jalen Carter does his thing, you could probably bring Hugh Douglas out of retirement at EDGE and he’d be able to eat,” someone else added.
“3-0. No rush. Open a roster spot, make sure hes 100% for the long run,” one fan added.
“Man I hate to hear that. It’s like nonstop injuries right now,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Eagles shuffle things around after the injury. If the defense struggles and the offense doesn’t figure things out, things could turn for the worse fast in Philadelphia.
