Since being drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, former TCU standout Jalen Reagor has certainly struggled to find a role with the Philadelphia Eagles, and now his spot on the Eagles roster certainly appears to be in jeopardy.
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni previously discussed Reagor and his role on the team and said that Reagor is competing for a spot on the roster this offseason.
Reagor seems to realize the situation at hand, and discussed the situation saying that he is up for the challenge to prove himself to the coaching staff throughout training camp and the NFL preseason.
“I love a good challenge. It’s a humbling experience, ’cause you go from a first-rounder to you’re battling,” Reagor said on Wednesday following team practice via Eagles insider Dave Spadaro. “But I like challenges, though.
“We’ve got a helluva room and there is competition in there. Obviously, people have their jobs and some people don’t, some people fighting. You’ve just got to come in and when people go down, you step up and just be ready when it’s your time.”
The team notably brought in star wide receiver A.J. Brown in a trade with the Tennessee Titans this offseason, who seemingly took Reagor’s role as one of the starting outside receivers on the team.
It certainly seems like he has the right mindset about the situation, but it has to be tough on the mindset of a player like Reagor to see the likes of Justin Jefferson, Tee Higgins, Michael Pittman, and Chase Claypool, who were drafted in the same draft class all vastly outperforming him.
He may be running out of chances in Philadelphia, but he appears ready to fight for at least one more chance with the organization that drafted him.
