Former Philadelphia Eagles player Chris Maragos won a major legal battle against the National Football League.

A court awarded Maragos, a former captain for Philadelphia, $43.5 million for “the premature and unnecessary end” to his NFL career. This was due to improper care from Dr. James Bradley and Rothman Orthopaedics.

Ed Kracz tweeted about the legal victory for Maragos on Monday. Kracz tweeted, “Former Eagles captain Chris Maragos has been awarded $43.5 million for the premature and unnecessary end to his NFL career due to the improper care of his right knee injury by renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Bradley and rehabilitation institute Rothman Orthopaedics.”

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the case stems from events that took place back in 2017. The Inquirer wrote, “The lawsuit alleged the special teams ace’s NFL run was cut short by “medical negligence” from his doctors who operated on and rehabilitated Maragos’ torn posterior cruciate ligament following an injury during the Eagles 2017-18 Super Bowl season. While addressing his PCL, the doctors, Maragos’ attorneys say, ignored damage to the player’s meniscus — leading to a premature end to his professional career, and causing ongoing knee issues.”

Testimony during the trial included former Eagles Super Bowl Champion-winning quarterback Nick Foles. The victory for Maragos in court was a huge one to say the least, and one that he and his team were quoted by the Inquirer as being grateful for.
