It’s another very special night in the incredible career of New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. The 40-year-old set the all-time record for most career touchdown passes in NFL history in the Saints’ game against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football (last year, Brees became the all-time passing yardage leader on MNF as well).
Brees threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Josh Hill in the third quarter for his third touchdown pass of the night, and touchdown pass No. 540 of his career. That’s an NFL record, breaking Peyton Manning’s record of 539. Tom Brady is right behind them at 538.
The record-setting pass came on Brees’ 20th consecutive completion of the night, showing how good — and incredibly efficient — he still is at 40.
And later in the third quarter, Brees threw yet another touchdown pass — No. 541 — for his 21st straight completion of the game.
At the time of this write-up, Brees is 29-of-30 for 307 yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions, and a 148.9 passer rating. Legend.
