The Miami Dolphins reportedly have good news on rookie sensation De’Von Achane.
The explosive running back will be ready to return for action after serving the minimum four-game stint on the IR, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Dolphins placed Achane on the IR this week with a knee injury. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters that it was not an easy decision, given the nature of the injury.
It certainly didn’t appear serious at the time it happened. Achane ran for 151 yards in Week 5 against the New York Giants, and his knee didn’t become an issue until the following day. But McDaniel fueled bad speculation at a press conference when he refused to rule out whether the injury might be season-ending.
Achane has been one of the NFL’s biggest surprises this season. He’s second in rushing yards (460) despite playing only four games, with one start. His 12.1 yards per carry sounds like a stat from a high school 6-man football league.
Raheem Mostert, who is having a fine season himself, will see an increased workload with Achane out. Jeff Wilson, who had been expected to be the starting running back coming into the season, was not activated off the IR for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers
