The Miami Dolphins can’t seem to catch a break. Not only is starter Tua Tagovailoa still out with concussion issues but now so is his backup, Teddy Bridgewater.
According to the NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, Bridgewater passed his concussion test after being injured on his first play Sunday. He still wasn’t allowed back into the Dolphins game against the New York Jets because of the new concussion protocol that went into effect for Week 5.
“For clarity: Dolphins say Teddy Bridgewater passed his concussion tests but was ruled out due to concussion protocol based on what the ATC spotter saw from Bridgewater and new NFL-NFLPA protocols (ataxia as no-go to return). Bridgewater, hurt on his 1st play, is in the protocol.”
The NFL and the NFL Players Association released their findings on Tua Tagovailoa’s situation and found that although the Dolphins followed the correct concussion protocol, it was “insufficient,” which explains why Bridgewater was not let back into Sunday’s game.
There has not been any indication from the Dolphins when the former Alabama quarterback will be back, but as of now, until he is clear, he may be out another few weeks.
If Bridgewater misses extended time, that would be another blow to a Dolphins team that got off to a fast start.
