The Pittsburgh Steelers lost a crucial game to the Cleveland Browns. A victory would’ve clinched the AFC North for Pittsburgh, allowing head coach Mike Tomlin to rest his veteran roster ahead of the Wild Card round. Instead, the offense failed to reach the endzone, and the Steelers lost 13-6 to a Cleveland team on its third starting quarterback of the season.
Pittsburgh’s offensive struggles in the game were in large part due to the absence of star wide receiver DK Metcalf, who was suspended for the final two games of the regular season due to his involvement in an altercation with a fan against the Detroit Lions.
There have been differing accounts of exactly what led to the confrontation, but in a development that shines favorably on Metcalf, it’s been corroborated that he had previously had an issue with the same fan when he was a member of the Seattle Seahawks.
“I actually have the security communication between the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks security from a game last year when DK Metcalf, when he was with the Seahawks, complained about that exact same fan to security,” Jay Glazer said of the situation.
“He asked that that fan be removed over derogatory comments. I’m not gonna repeat what the comments are that are on here. Obviously we don’t condone ever hitting a fan, or anybody else, but in this it says, when we investigated during the game, the individuals around him states and corroborated that the fan was being out of line and had indeed said these derogatory statements. They even asked us to remove the guy.”
Although Metcalf’s suspension appeal has already been denied, this news is good for his public image and could possibly contribute to any potential litigation if things reach that point.
