It’s not often that you see a player clearly complaining about the referees following a game, but Pittsburgh Steelers star receiver Diontae Johnson did not hold back in that regard this week.

During his postgame comments this week, Diontae Johnson absolutely blasted the referees, pointing to on particular controversial call when the officials called offensive offside on a field goal attempt.

“Refs were just killing us the whole game,” Johnson said according to Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com. “The same refs we had at training camp. I didn’t like the refs today. At the end of the day, we can’t keep complaining about the refs. Like coach [Mike Tomlin] say, we can’t worry about the refs, whatever. But everybody’s different.

“I didn’t like the refs today. They must’ve got paid good today or something, but they blew — that field goal, that hurt us coming into the half. We needed that.”

But Johnson was concerned about more than just that one call, suggesting that the referees “wanted them to win” and were making calls against the Steelers.

“They wanted them to win,” Johnson said “They was calling . . . everything was in their favor. Every little call. But it is what it is. I’m moving on from it. I’m ready for Thursday.”

It’s clear that he was not happy with the officials, and he let everyone know about it.
