The Atlanta Falcons are making a change at the quarterback position this week as veteran quarterback Taylor Heinicke is taking over and Desmond Ridder has been benched. But it sounds like Ridder is still keeping a positive attitude despite the decision.
During his interview session this week, Desmond Ridder made it clear that he is still going to keep doing whatever the team needs him to do despite his benching.
“Nothing’s changed,” Ridder said Thursday according to Pro Football Talk. “I’m still going to be the best version of myself, the best teammate I can be. I never want to be a negative person, a negative guy. I’m going to go do whatever it takes to help my team and help us go win.”
Even though Ridder will no longer be the starter for the team, he vows to never stop fighting to improve and push his teammates to get better.
“Those [efforts] will never stop,” Ridder said. “It’s about me and trying to push everyone else around me to be better. That’s why we’re still doing the [player-led pass catchers’ meetings]. That’s why I’m being the same guy I was seven days ago.
We’ll have to see what this move ultimately means for Ridder and the Falcons in the long run.
