When you talk about AFC West favorites, two teams tend to come up: the Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos. The Chiefs are the defending champions of the division and the Broncos just added Russell Wilson at quarterback.

While there are certainly those who think the Las Vegas Raiders could make some waves this season, it’s apparently not loud r enough for Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

Carr seems a bit peeved that his team isn’t in the conversation.

“It’s going to be fun,” Carr said in a recent interview with The Athletic. “No one thinks anything of us and I think that’s what makes it fun is you always have to put the ball down and play the football games. . . . You get frustrated when you see other people’s names on things and this and that. And you’re like, ‘We’re here, too. We feel like we got better, too.; I thought we made the playoffs.”

The Raiders made the playoffs last year and came close to knocking off the Cinncinatti Bengals during their Super Bowl run. Now that the team has added wide receiver Davante Adams and beefed up their defense with Chandler Jones and others, there is no reason to believe that the Raiders can’t make a serious playoff run.

According to Carr, the Raiders seem to have a chip on their shoulder going into the season. Maybe that’s the motivation they’ll need to get past the Chiefs.
