Miami Dolphins defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah (91) celebrates a sack Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson (3) during the fourth quarter of an NFL game at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Sept. 24, 2023.

The Denver Broncos hired Super Bowl champion coach Sean Payton to right their ship after last season’s shocking 5-12 record.

Though the Broncos have shown some improvement on the field, they still fell to 0-3 on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Worse for Payton’s Broncos was the fact that the Dolphins dropped 70 points on his team. It was the NFL’s first 70-point game since 1966 and the league’s first 50-point win since 2014 as the Dolphins recorded 726 offensive yards.

Quarterback Russell Wilson said after the game that he had never experienced a beating like that on any level of football.

“I’ve never experienced that on a football field, but we have to focus on what’s in front of us,” Wilson said after the game, according to Nick Kosmider of The Athletic.

“I’m at a loss for words,” Payton said. “Every once in a while in the NFL you get your butt kicked, but this was different.”

Wilson was far from the Broncos’ biggest problem on Sunday. He completed 23 of his 38 pass attempts for 306 yards with a touchdown and interception. He was also only sacked once, which was a marked improvement from the previous week when the Washington Commanders downed Russell seven times behind the line of scrimmage.

But the NFL world was still quick to react to the latest brutal performance by Wilson and the Broncos:
