Davante Adams is trying to apologize with a two-word tweet aimed at Las Vegas Raiders GM Dave Ziegler.
Adams is clearly not happy the Raiders cut ties with quarterback Derek Carr this offseason. One of the biggest reasons why Adams wanted to join the Raiders in 2022 was the opportunity to play with Carr, his close friend and college teammate at Fresno State.
But the Raiders released Carr, brought in quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, and Adams is understandably perturbed. He noted as much in a recent interview with The Ringer, saying, “I’m going to have to buy into this and try to be as optimistic as possible. It’s not what I expected to happen, but it’s something that’s the reality now.”
Adams also noted he and the “front office” (meaning Ziegler) “don’t see eye-to-eye on what we think is best for us right now.”
Those words are not signs of harmony between the superstar wide receiver, Ziegler and the team. Wednesday, Adams tweeted of photo of him posing with Ziegler, both men smiling, with the message “The Man.”
It’s not exactly candy and flowers, but it’s not a bad way for an NFL player to apologize to his general manager.
Adams did everything the Raiders could have expected of him and more in 2022, hauling in 100 catches for 1,516 yards and an NFL-leading 14 touchdowns. While he’ll miss his old college buddy Carr, he should be just as dangerous with Garoppolo at the helm.
