The Pittsburgh Steelers are still dealing with an Aaron Rodgers-sized elephant in the room. The veteran quarterback remains unsigned and has given no indication that he will sign with the Steelers in the coming days, but as OTAs begin for the Steelers, the organization his still heavily linked to Rodgers.
It seems that one Steelers star is tired of Aaron’s absence and wants to focus on the people who are with the team.
“Everybody has to buy in, and this is the time that you need to be bought in,” Steelers cornerback Darius Slay said, according to Pro Football Talk. “Guys have families. I have one as well. You want to be a champion?
“There are things you have to sacrifice, and this is one of the jobs I want to sacrifice. I want to come here, be on time, be present, let guys see my face, let them know it’s important for me to be here, and I’m here to win.”
Fans reacted to Slay’s words on social media.
“Aaron isn’t even on the team dude. I’m no Rodgers fan but it’s kinda ridiculous to hate on someone missing OTAs who’s not even signed,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“OTAs are the biggest waste of time, get rid of them and start Training Camp early,” someone else added.
“Rodgers aged a ton more than he expected over the winter. It will influence his decision,” another person added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Slay’s words have any impact on Rodgers’ decision.
