The New York Giants fell to 1-3 on Monday night following a 24-3 drubbing at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks.

New York was outplayed in nearly every facet of the game following an 11-day layoff after a Week 3 Thursday Night Football loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Perhaps most alarming was the Giants’ inability to keep quarterback Daniel Jones upright. Jones took ten sacks in the game, the most in an NFL game on a single quarterback in five years.

Matthew Stafford, then with the Lions, was sacked 10 times in a November 2018 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The all-time NFL record for sacks in a game is 12, set most recently by the Giants, ironically enough, when they sacked Donovan McNabb 12 times in a 2007 meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles.

While the Giants’ offensive line has been decimated by injuries, it certainly isn’t a good sign for the team or for Jones, who was inked to a $160 million contract extension over the offseason.

While fans on social media weren’t pleased with Jones, they also made sure to point out the significant offensive line issues the Giants have had. Regardless of who deserves the blame, the fact remains that the Giants, who made the playoffs last year, face a significant uphill climb to even get to .500 this season, let alone returning to the postseason.
