Following the Cincinnati Bengals’ 27-10 divisional-round playoff win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, there was much to make of Joe Burrow’s performance.
Appearing on ESPN’s Get Up! on Monday morning, journeyman quarterback and current NFL ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky offered a bold claim on Burrow’s status as one of the top signal-callers in the NFL.
“Joe Burrow’s the best quarterback in football,” Orlovsky said via Get Up ESPN on Twitter. “Now, let me be very clear with what I’m saying. Chiefs fans, Patrick Mahomes — best player. He’s the most talented player in the NFL and he’s the most dynamic weapon. Joe Burrow’s the best quarterback in football…Joe Burrow’s the best. He’s the standard right now.”
Orlovsky clarified that Burrow is the master of his craft when it comes to quarterbacking and going above and beyond the basic things that are required of someone in his position.
“The fascinating part is, all the stuff Patrick, Josh Allen, Lamar [Jackson] and Jalen Hurts do, guys, you can’t do that stuff,” Orlovsky said. “They’re outliers when it comes to so much of their stuff. All the stuff that Joe Burrow does — you can — but he’s the only one that does.”
In the 17-point win over the Bills, Burrow completed 23-of-36 passes for 242 yards with two passing touchdowns. He also added 31 rushing yards on six carries. He’ll lead Cincinnati to its second consecutive AFC Championship Game, as the Bengals will now travel to Kansas City for a showdown with Mahomes and the Chiefs.
