The Dallas Cowboys recently signed fullback Ryan Nall and now they’re making room on the roster by cutting another member of their backfield.

The team announced Wednesday that it had released fullback Sewo Olonilua.

The TCU product signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2020, though he started the season on the practice squad. He was elevated to the active roster three times that season, taking part in two games. Last August, Olonilua was placed on the injured reserve list after suffering a neck injury during the Hall of Fame Game. He did not take part in the 2021-2022 NFL season.

The fullback seemingly expected to be back in the mix as recently as last month, tweeting that “the opportunity is definitely there.”

Instead, he’ll be looking for an opportunity to catch on with a different NFL team and try to see some regular-season action and perhaps try to score his first touchdown in the league.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys currently have 92 players either under contract or expected to sign, pending physicals for rookie free agents. Along with Nall, the Cowboys also have fullback Nick Ralston on their roster, which made things a bit too crowded to also keep Olonilua around.
