It’s no secret that sports are a big business with teams often worth billions of dollars, but one NFL team stands out among the rest: the Dallas Cowboys.
According to a report from Sportico, the Cowboys are the most valuable team in the world across all sports, worth an estimated $7.64 billion. Dallas tops the rankings across all global sports leagues with the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball coming in second place, $630 million behind the Cowboys.
Dallas takes the single-team crown, but the NFL as a whole is the most valuable sports league in the world. Sportico estimates that the NFL franchise is worth $4.14 billion with 16 franchises worth at least $4 billion. That compares to seven total teams across the other United States sports leagues combined.
NFL franchises are worth a combined $132 billion – a number that also includes team-related businesses and real estate held by owners.
“There isn’t anybody that compares to the NFL in sports or entertainment,” George Pyne, founder of investment firm Bruin Capital told Sportio. “They are in an orbit all by themselves.”
The NFL is king, and their wealth just keeps growing as Sportio reports that average NFL revenues have grown more than 18 percent over last year. And you can safely expect them to grow again next year – with the Cowboys leading the way.
