The Dallas Cowboys had one of the most talented rosters in the 2021 season, especially on the offensive side of the ball. However, despite leading the league in yards per game on offense, they were still unable to turn this into a lengthy playoff run.
The team lost in the first round of the playoffs to the San Francisco 49ers, and it now appears that they are making some drastic moves ahead of the 2022 season.
Shocking reports have come out that the Cowboys are “likely” to release star wide receiver Amari Cooper by the start of the new league year, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter.
This has led many Cowboys fans to seriously question the decision-making that is currently going on in the team’s front office moving forward.

While Cowboys fans are obviously upset with these reports, fans of other teams around the league are all speculating what Cooper could bring to their team should he decide to sign there in free agency.
The four-time Pro-Bowler had a relative down year for the Cowboys last season, putting up 865 yards and 8 touchdowns, but has been a very productive player over his four-year career with the team.
Cooper has had over 1,000 receiving yards in all but one year with the Cowboys, so these reports are certainly shocking, to say the least. He signed a five-year, 100-million dollar contract with the team in 2020. While his contract is certainly a big one, he has mostly lived up to the paycheck. At his best, he is one of the better receiving options in the league.
Should he be released by the team, he will enter an already loaded free-agent class of wide receivers alongside Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Chris Godwin and potentially Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams.
