Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott has not played this season since injuring his thumb in the fourth quarter of the team’s opening-season loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last month. But according to Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones, Prescott could be back for this week’s game against the Detroit Lions.

During his weekly radio appearance on 105.3, Jones revealed that Dak Prescott will likely start for the team this week.

“He’s determined to,” Jones said during his radio show appearance, according to Jori Epstein of Yahoo! Sports. “From what I can know and see, I think he can get there. We feel like physically he’s at a position where the risk/reward justifies him being out there.”

Backup quarterback Cooper Rush replaced Prescott admirably during the past five games, doing so well that Jones had to answer questions about a potential quarterback controversy on several different occasions. Rush led the team to a 4-1 record with Prescott sidelined, losing only Sunday afternoon’s game to the Philadelphia Eagles in which he threw three interceptions.

If Prescott does return this weekend, he’ll have a chance to make his first start back from injury in front of a home crowd in AT&T Stadium.
