There’s obviously no love lost between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, but this was ridiculous.
Before Super Bowl LVII, the NFL honored Cowboys star Dak Prescott with the prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. The community service award is billed as the league’s highest honor, given in recognition of a player’s commitment to philanthropy and community impact.
It should have been a beautiful moment — except the mention of Prescott’s name was met with a loud chorus of boos from Eagles fans at the Super Bowl.
Eagles fans have always had a reputation for being merciless. Way back in the day those fans once booed Santa Claus. But booing someone, even a bitter rival, while receiving a humanitarian award seemed to be another step down for the fan base.
The incident quickly trended on Twitter.
