To get an idea of how big the hype is surrounding Dallas Cowboys rookie Deuce Vaughn, consider this: After he had an eight-yard run during Saturday’s preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the NFL and many other top Twitter accounts shared a replay.

The response was enormous, probably the most feedback you’ll ever see for a short run.

To be fair, it was no ordinary eight-yard run. The 5-foot-6 running back took the handoff, changed direction once, then again, made a spin move, and then made another cut before being upended by a defender.

It looked like vintage Barry Sanders in action.

So when Vaughn busted a nice 26-yard run minutes later, and then scored a touchdown, NFL Twitter went berserk.

Vaughn, who starred at Kansas State, went to the Cowboys in the sixth round. His size is obviously a concern, but there is no question he’s got elite moves and could be a great change-of-pace back for the Cowboys. He’s currently listed fourth on the depth chart.

The rookie rushed eight times for 50 yards and that touchdown, and caught all three passes thrown his way for six yards.

Every year there are one or two NFL players who captivate fans in training camp. Given Vaughn’s diminutive size and underdog status, he’s quickly become a fan favorite.
