Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones left a lot of jaws dropped this past offseason when he traded verbal jabs via the media with star pass rusher Micah Parsons, who was arguably Dallas’s best player, amid a contract dispute concerning a potential extension.
When no deal could be agreed upon, Jones dealt Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in one of the most shocking front office moves in recent memory. Now, Jones is back at it again, sharing some shocking words about Parsons before the Packers and Cowboys face off on Sunday.
“Let’s make no mistake about it,” Jones said, according to the Cowboys’ official website. “Micah is special, and we all know he is, and he can be disruptive. We have huge amounts of experience with the anecdotes that we’ve seen used on us for the last four years.
“While he does make great plays, there is also a way to approach playing against Micah, as we know, because we didn’t exactly win the Super Bowl during those years.”
Fans reacted to the head-scratching statement on social media.
“Oddly, we could say we haven’t won a Super Bowl without Jimmy Johnson’s players and Jerry running the team,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“You haven’t won anything without Jimmy Johnson’s built team, Jerry. I wouldn’t just put that on Parsons but this moron still gotta try and justify being cheap,” another fan added.
“And you won’t win one without him either,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Jones or Parsons gets the last laugh on Sunday.
