Cowboys haven’t reach agreement with key offensive player

A key player on the Dallas Cowboys offense looks as if he will go into the season with the franchise tag slapped on him.

The Cowboys and tight end Dalton Schultz can’t seem to come to an agreement on a new deal, according to reports. The tight end is reportedly not happy with the team for putting him under the franchise tag and wanted a new deal, but he and the team can’t seem to come to an agreement.

Schultz caught 78 passes last season and 8 touchdowns. He was quarterback Dak Prescott’s second most popular target, behind former Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper who is now with the Cleveland Browns.

Just a few years ago, the Cowboys slapped the franchise tag on quarterback Dak Prescott and it took the whole offseason to come up with his new deal. Prescott proved his worth to the team by not being on the field that season as he broke his ankle during a game against the New York Giants. His injury cost the Cowboys dearly as they missed the playoffs in 2019. Prescott later signed for 4 years and $160, making him at the time one of the highest-paid players in the league.

If Schultz has a great season, he will more than likely be rewarded in a similar way.
