Dak Prescott threw an interception in the Dallas Cowboys training camp Wednesday.
That’s not news, some fans might say. Those fans are clearly not living in 2023, when social media can turn literally any ordinary event into a raging debate on Twitter.
And so that’s exactly what happened after the Cowboys quarterback threw an interception on a pass intended for third-year wide receiver Simi Fehoko.
ESPN and Eagle fans: “Dak Prescott is already throwing interceptions to start 2023”

To be fair, Prescott hit Fehoko in the hands, and in stride, and he tipped it to cornerback Eric Scott Jr. But that “tipped pass” is part of what made this interception such a hoot on Twitter. Just a week ago, the Cowboys had to clarify comments Prescott made to a reporter, in which he reportedly said, “I won’t have 10 interceptions this year.”
The Cowboys amended that quote to, “We won’t have those tipped interceptions this year.”
And of course, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Tuesday made his expectations for Prescott this season clear, saying, “I expect to see what we expect from Dak, which is don’t turn the ball over, be protective of the ball.”
So the interception, on a tipped pass, the day after Jones’ statement, set off the perfect storm on Twitter that sent Prescott’s name viral.
