If anyone thought that Dallas Cowboys backup quarterback Cooper Rush would be fighting for the starting position once Dak Prescott is declared healthy, they’d be wrong.
In fact, Rush seems to accept the fact that despite his play and the Cowboys winning, Prescott is indeed the team’s starter.
“He’s gonna bring that energy and he’s communicating with everyone, and, yeah, he obviously wants to play and whenever he’s ready, he will,” Rush said (via ESPN).
While some think if Rush leads the Cowboys to a victory against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday he should remain the starter, team owner Jerry Jones declared last week that Prescott is the starter no matter what Rush has done.
Many observers have pointed out that the Cowboys have been successful not because of Rush but because of the Dallas defense, which has allowed less than 15 points per game. That’s probably the main reason the Cowboys continue to win.
A win over the Eagles Sunday night might propel this team to Super Bowl contender status, especially if Prescott can stay healthy throughout the rest of the season.
It will be a tough task, but four weeks ago, no one thought the Cowboys would be at this point in the season with Rush leading the way.
