The Washington Commanders are looking to get back to the NFC Championship after reaching it last year in star quarterback Jayden Daniels’ rookie season. Unfortunately for Daniels and the Commanders, he’s been sidelined with an injury in recent weeks, which isn’t something that’s going to change on Sunday, according to a prominent league insider.
“Jayden Daniels is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Falcons due to his knee injury. Commanders QB Marcus Mariota will start against his former Falcons team,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter on Friday.
Then, the Commanders got even worse news.
And Terry McLaurin also has been ruled out for Sunday,” Schefter tweeted.
Fans reacted to the brutal developments on social media.
“Oh no, Terry McLaurin’s out too? The Commanders are turning into a game of musical chairs—hope they’ve got enough players left to finish the tune!” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“What is with everyone who got paid, getting hurt this season?” one fan wanted to know.
“These WR’s get paid and do not care to play after lol,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how Mariota does against his former team with what would have been his top target unavailable to go.
