The Indianapolis Colts have been one of the NFL’s feel-good stories throughout the early part of the season. After being written off by many fans, analysts, and pundits heading into the season, the Colts are tied for the best record in the league at 4-1.
Veteran quarterback Daniel Jones appears to have resurrected in career in a similar fashion to the way that Sam Darnold did with the Minnesota Vikings last year. Unfortunately, as great as things are going for the Colts as a whole, one of their standout players is officially out for the remainder of the 2025 campaign, according to one prominent league insider.
“Colts kicker Spencer Shrader suffered a season-ending knee injury Sunday vs. the Raiders, as (The Pat McAfee Show) reported,” ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter tweeted on Monday.
Fans reacted to the devastating news on social media.
“Something about having your teams kicker get his knee blown out on an extra point attempt in a blow out just don’t sit right w me. Dirty ahh play. He had been super solid too,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“When a dirty hit takes out a player for the year, the team that caused the injury should have to give a compensatory draft pick to the injured player’s team. Not a first rounder, but a fourth or fifth rounder would be enough to send a message that it won’t be tolerated,” someone else added.
“Damn. Shrader was nothing short of the best kicker in football through the first quarter of the season and to lose that really does suck. Hope the Colts can get someone that can be remotely as accurate!” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how Indianapolis’s special teams looks for the remainder of the season.
