While there is a lot of conjecture right now that Jim Irsay might just remove the interim tag from Jeff Saturday’s title and make him the permanent head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, the team continues to interview interesting candidates who many fans might much prefer to see get the job.
The Colts announced Friday that they had completed their interview with Green Bay Packers special teams coach Rich Bisaccia. The longtime assistant coach garnered a lot of praise when he took over as interim head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders following Jon Gruden’s resignation, leading them to a 7-5 record and a playoff berth. However, he didn’t get the full-time gig and went back to work as an assistant, though he has a reputation for being beloved by players.
“A leader whose players love him,” is how Ian Rapoport described Bisaccia on Friday.
If the Colts are going to end up hiring Saturday, they’re at least putting in the work to interview other candidates. Along with Bisaccia, they have also interviewed Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy, Cowboys DC Dan Quinn, Lions DC Aaron Glenn, Eagles OC Shane Steichen, Lions OC Ben Johnson, Rams DC Raheem Morris, Colts special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone, and Broncos DC Ejiro Evero.
