The news is getting worse for Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that “season-ending surgery is being strongly considered” for the rookie’s injured shoulder.
A report several days ago said the Colts expected Richardson to miss four to eight weeks. But Rapoport said Richardson and the team got “four or five opinions on his shoulder,” leading to the new timeline.
Richardson has a damaged AC joint in his right shoulder. The latest report did offer some good news: The labrum is not torn, and the ligaments looked “better than expected.”
Richardson, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has shown flashes of greatness along with some typical rookie moments so far. No one wants to wait until next year to see him continue his development.
NFL fans quickly reacted to the news.
He’s Cam Newton, only if Cam Newton had his shoulder injury in Week 5 of his rookie year instead of 5 years into his career. Colts fans, us Panthers fans feel your pain.
