Colin Cowherd compares Tua Tagovailoa to vehicle

Colin Cowherd has made it pretty clear over the years that he doesn’t think much of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Earlier this year, he summed up his feelings on Tua by saying on X that “Tua is small. Has an injury history. Average arm. Not super athletic. And can only play in ideal conditions.”

In his latest comments about the quarterback, Cowherd zeroed in on the sentiment that Tagovailoa only plays well in warm weather. As part of a larger discussion around NFL QB contract extensions, Cowherd turned Tua and Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff into vehicles to make a point.

“Tua’s a little bit like that Miami speedboat. It’s flashy but it’s seasonal,” said Cowherd on Friday. “Jared Goff’s the pickup truck. It works in all weather.

“I went and found Goff and Tua in weather under 45 degrees. That is January, February, December football. Goff, 90 passer rating, winning record, a very viable quarterback. 4-1 TD-interception ratio. Tua plummets. You gotta give the extensions to the guys that are all-terrain, all-weather.”

We’re gonna say right off the bat that we want to see where Colin is getting his numbers from. Cowherd has a long history of offering up falsehoods and incorrect information as fact. We also have to wonder if he’s counting Lions home games in those frigid conditions, which would be played in a dome.

It’s certainly still a debate as to how effective Tagovailoa will be long-term for the Dolphins, but we’re not sure that Cowherd’s analogy works as well as he thinks it does.
