It’s not exactly shocking that the Cleveland Browns aren’t lighting it up this season. The Browns faced two divisional opponents to start the season in the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens, and are 0-2 to show for it. The losses are taking their toll on Cleveland’s locker room, too. Star pass rusher Myles Garrett voiced his frustrations with the state of things in a media session.
“(It’s) embarrassing. We got to be better on defense. We got to be better as a team. They slowly chipped away and we did a solid job, holding them to 3 when we could, and then eventually the dam broke and they just did whatever they want, and we have to continue to play a 60-minute game,” Garrett said in a media session.
As upset as Garrett is about the way his side of the ball is performing, the offense has also been ineffective. Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns through tow games, leading many fans to believe the Browns should turn to Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel, one of their rookie quarterbacks. Frustratingly for those fans, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has decided to stick with Flacco for the time being.
“Browns Stefanski said he won’t consider a quarterback change from Joe Flacco to Dillon Gabriel,” Browns reporter Mary Kay Cabot broke.
That doesn’t mean the Browns and Stefanski aren’t going in a younger direction elsewhere on that side of the ball. After Cleveland’s veteran running backs failed to produce in the first two games, the Browns are starting a rookie in Week Three.
“The Browns have moved rookie RB Quinshon Judkins, who signed with the team only 11 days ago, to RB1 on the public depth chart,” Pro Football Talk reported on Wednesday.
However, Stefanski publicly downplayed the depth chart.
“Yeah, obviously we’re going to keep bringing Quinshon along, but that unofficial depth chart is done by [P.R. chief] Peter [John-Baptiste],” Stefanksi said.
Fans reacted to the depth chart move on social media.
“Best rookie RB,” one fan wrote Twitter.
“I think his skill will speak for itself… I do think he has the ability to kind of be a gamebreaker,” Flacco said.
It’ll be interesting to see how Judkins does in his first start as a professional.
