The Cleveland Browns are in search of a new starting quarterback following DeShaun Watson’s Achilles injury and subsequent setback in his recovery process. The Browns have four players competing for the job this offseason: Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders.

Unfortunately, one of the quarterbacks appears to be falling behind the others as the quarterback competition stretches on.

“During OTAs and minicamp, Zac Jackson said Dillon Gabriel didn’t look like an NFL quarterback. Now Daryl Ruiter is saying the same thing. ‘He’s not an NFL quarterback. Not right now. He’s rolling out and can’t hit guys wide open. At times, he’s not that good in the warmup periods,’” reported The Dawgs on Monday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“It sounded like Zac was being literal, based on his height. In my opinion refering to his play this weeks reports have been much more alarming. The kid has about a month to get himself in a much better position or he’ll be at the bottom of the room,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“That’s why they signed Flacco. Not many people expect a 3rd round pick to be NFL ready 2 weeks into their first camp. He is not ready right now…nothing wrong with that,” someone else added.

“He’s a 3rd round rookie. What are we doing here, the success rate on 3rd rounders becoming starters is less than 20% and yall are writing him off before he’s played a single preseason game as a bust because yall can’t stop fanboying Shadeur,” another fan wrote.

It’ll be interesting to see if Gabriel can find his footing before it’s too late.
