The Houston Texans are looking to make their first sustained deep postseason run under young quarterback C.J. Stroud, after Stroud led Houston to just a single postseason win in each of his first two seasons in the league.
Unfortunately for Stroud and the Texans, a shoulder injury kept him from being able to throw during the team’s OTA period. Now, with mandatory minicamp underway in Houston, there’s been an update to Stroud’s status.
“Some calming news for #Texans fans: QB CJ Stroud is throwing during mandatory minicamp after a spring of taking it easy. Coach DeMeco Ryans had said, ‘He’ll be good to go. No concerns on my end there,'” reported NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Tuesday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Bounce back year 3 for CJ. Bolstered running game & new Offensive line should hopefully alleviate some of that pressure,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Shoulder will get worse when he’s sacked because Houston refused to build a superior OL for him,” one fan added.
“Life is worth living again,” one Texans fan added.
It’s great that Stoud is throwing again, but hopefully he’s able to lead the Texans deep into the playoffs this season. If not, some tough conversations about his status as one of the ascending players in the league will have to be had.
