Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson (91) looks on before the NFL game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Denver Broncos at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024.

The NFL sack leader from a season ago has been involved in a very public contract dispute with the Cincinnati Bengals, as he waits for a contract extension that reflects his dominant season. Hendrickson even decided to hold out of training camp and head to Florida with his wife.

“EXCLUSIVE: Just spoke to Bengals pass rusher Trey Hendrickson, who is currently in Jacksonville, FL. For the last 30 days, he had been at his home in Cincinnati and training. But as training camp approached, he and his wife decided to leave,” reported Diana Russini.

“They received two offers in a 24-hour span, none containing the guarantees past the first year he was looking for. Hendrickson didn’t want to hear the practice whistles while being a distraction to his teammates, so he and his wife Alisa decided to pack up and head to Florida. Down in Jacksonville, Hendrickson continues to train, hoping that a deal can be worked out.”

However, Hendrickson has since reversed course on the decision.

Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson plans to end his holdout and report to training camp Wednesday, sources tell me and (Ian Rapoport). The NFL sack leader doesn’t have a new deal yet and it seems unlikely he’ll practice until he does. But talks continue and now he’s back in the building,” reported Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Just getting him in the building and with the team is a positive step that you love to see. Hopefully the start of more good things to come,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“I imagine this means a deal is coming soon otherwise he would keep holding out,” one fan added.

“He’s gonna cave. These holdouts don’t work and they usually end up taking the money offered,” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if there is any bad blood between Hendrickson and his teammates over the holdout.
