Chuba Hubbard picked a side and doubled down.
The Carolina Panthers running back was clear in backing Drake in the battle against rapper Kendrick Lamar. A feud that’s been going on for over a decade.
When Hubbard was asked at his locker on Wednesday about using the term “Mustard” in a post by the Panthers social team using a photo of him, he wasn’t having it.
“We OVO over here,” he said.
Hubbard, who’s a Canadian native like Drake, referenced October’s Very Own, a record label founded by Drake.
“I’m not crazy like he’s my favorite artist or anything like that, they did like a little Kendrick post — yeah, we ain’t messing with that,” Hubbard said.
The reporter was going to ask how he felt about it anyway, and if you look at the comments below the Panthers Twitter/X post, you can see the mentions thought it was a bold thing to post as well.
You could go on a deep dive on the feud between the two rappers, and it would take hours to find lyrics in songs with diss tracks that turn into speculations and harsh accusations. However, there are also critics who say the rivalry gave some significance to modern hip-hop.
Either way, with the Panthers Twitter/X post — maybe read the room.
