This season has been a disaster for the Carolina Panthers, resulting in head coach Matt Rhule being fired, receiver Robbie Anderson being traded, and star running back Christian McCaffrey now popping up in trade rumors.
Carolina appears to be going nowhere quickly with starting quarterback Baker Mayfield injured and backup P.J. Walker struggling mightily.
With all these struggles and the trade deadline approaching, McCaffrey is now fielding the unavoidable questions about trade rumors.
“I’m keeping that away from me,” McCaffrey said, via The Athletic’s Joe Person. “That is out of my control. I’m trying to control everything that I can control. Right now I am a Carolina Panther, and I’m giving my all to this place. I’m focused on playing the Bucs right now, and I am doing everything I can to prepare for that game.”
McCaffrey has been the lone bright spot for the Panthers thus far this year, and Carolina is reportedly seeking at least a first-round pick, preferably more, for a deal. A number of teams appear to already be interested, including the McCaffrey.
Despite this, he appears to have the right approach to potentially being traded, focusing on his performance rather than worrying.
That being said, considering the Panthers’ current outlook it seems that McCaffrey ending up on another team will be the most likely outcome.
