The Kansas City Chiefs gave their fans good news on the status of one of its key players. Head coach Andy Reid updated everyone on the status of wide receiver Kadarius Toney on Sunday. Reid said that the 2022 trade deadline acquisition was ‘OK’ for the Chiefs’ Week 1 opener against the Detroit Lions. Reid also updated on cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, saying Sneed was okay as well.
“Head coach Andy Reid says that both CB L’Jarius Sneed and WR Kadarius Toney are ‘good to go’ for Thursday night vs. Lions,” Pete Sweeney posted on Sunday morning.
Toney is expected to be the lead wide receiver this season after the team lost JuJu Smith-Schuster in free agency. Toney and Marquez Valdes-Scantling will complement the great Travis Kelce in the Chief offense.
The spotlight will be on the Chiefs once again in 2023. The reigning Super Bowl Champions are going for a repeat this season. Their last few attempts have been curbed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and then the Cincinnati Bengals. But it’s hard to doubt or deny their success. In every season they’ve had Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs have made it to at least the AFC Championship Game. That’s quite an assurance for the franchise and its fanbase and quite a standard to set as well.
They’ll also have everyone watching because they and the Lions open up the 2023 NFL season. Detroit and Kansas City kick the 2023 season off this Thursday night at Arrowhead Stadium. As always, the opening game of the NFL season is on NBC and will be streamed on Peacock.
