The Kansas City Chiefs have seemed like a lock over the past several years to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. Even after the Chiefs lost in embarassing fashion to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX to cap last season, it was impossible to write them off heading into this season.
Things changed once this year kicked off. The Chiefs struggled from start to finish in a season that went about as poorly as imaginable. Head coach Andy Reid and company not only missed the playoffs entirely, but star quarterback Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL late in the year, putting his status for the beginning of next season in jeopardy.
Many fans called for the franchise to move on from Reid due to the team’s offensive struggles. However, for the time being, it appears as if Reid’s job is safe. The same can’t be said for the rest of his staff.
“The #Chiefs are moving on from WRs coach Connor Embree, source said. There may be other changes to Andy Reid’s staff, but this talented group will have a new coach in 2026,” reported NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Don’t need a WR coach if you don’t have WRs,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“During Embree’s three-year tenure, drops were a huge problem with several wideouts. Technique became sloppy. Route trees were limited. And a first-round pick still hasn’t discovered where the sideline is after two seasons. This had to happen,” someone else added.
“Assuming most of John Harbaugh’s Baltimore staff is up for grabs, would love to see Greg Lewis return to KC on this role,” another fan wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see what other changes are in store for Kansas City this offseason.
