The Chicago Bears have been in the NFL for over 100 years doesn’t welcome change very often. From the heavily renovated stadium they have resided in since 1971 to the iconic uniforms they wear.
On Sunday, In an announcement released by the team, the Bears will wear a helmet color other than navy blue for the first time in their 100+ year history.
The Bears’ new alternate helmet will be entirely orange, featuring the block “C” lined in white. The Bears are just the latest team to release a new alternate helmet after the league lifted its ban on teams doing so. The Jets, Bengals, and Panthers are just a few of the teams who have recently unveiled alternative helmet designs.
When taking an initial look on Twitter, most fans aren’t digging their teams’ new helmets, with one fan calling them flat out “hideous” and Big Cat from the Barstool Sports podcast Pardon My Take figured if any team would screw up their alternate helmet, it would be the Bears.

The Bears will debut their new look on October 13 against the Washington Commanders on Thursday Night Football. The helmets will also make another appearance in Week 8 when the Bears play the Cowboys in Dallas on Oct. 30.
