It’s not too much of a stretch to say that this is a make-or-break season for Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young, as he looks to cement himself as the Carolina Panthers franchise quarterback.
Panthers executive vice president Brandt Tilis wouldn’t commit to Young as the Panthers’ long-term answer at the position over the offseason.
“Bryce is an ascending player,” Tilis said. “So I don’t want to sit here and make any kind of promises, any kind of statements about what we’re thinking about for Bryce’s contract or anything like that, and Bryce would probably be the first to tell you – Bryce needs to focus on football and being the best version of himself, and the contract stuff will get figured out.”
Unfortunately for Young, the Panthers are off to a 1-2 start on the season, and it’s only going to get harder moving forward, as one of Young’s weapons is now dealing with an injury, according to one prominent league insider.
“Panthers WR Tetairoa McMillan did not practice today due to a calf injury,” ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Tough break for Carolina, hopefully it’s nothing too serious and he can get back on the field soon,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“I don’t mind that. Hopefully we don’t see him on Sunday,” one Patriots fan added.
“The whole NFL is injured. This year has been a joke,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see how Young fares if McMillan can’t go on Sunday against the New England Patriots.
