For the third straight season, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray failed to lead his team to the postseason. But despite this, he seems to still have the full support of the Cardinals organization.
Michael Bidwell, the principal owner of the Cardinals, spoke openly about his thoughts on Murray during an appearance on the Bickley & Marotta Show on Arizona Sports 98.7 on Friday, outlining how he plans on continuing to build the offense around Murray.
“What he is is a dual-threat quarterback. When he’s healthy he scares every defensive coordinator and he has a chance to change the game with his feet and with his arm,” said Bidwill. “When you look at it, we’ve got to continue to rely on him and he’s got to play at a high level. He knows that.
“He’s working hard. … He needs to take the next step and we’re excited about our future with Kyler. He’s a great quarterback. I think we need to continue to build around that offense for him.”
Individually, Murray has undoubtedly had plenty of flashes over the course of his six-year career, making two Pro Bowl appearances and stuffing the stat sheet when healthy.
Unfortunately, both injuries affecting his availability and a lack of team success have plagued his time in Arizona, raising questions about whether Murray will ever be the quarterback to get the organization to contend in the NFC.
Clearly, Bidwell seems to think that he is that guy. But to many Cardinals fans, Murray still has plenty to prove as he heads into the 2025 NFL season, where he will look to improve on a rather concerning 36-45-1 career record as the quarterback of the Cardinals.
