It has been a disappointing NFL season for the Arizona Cardinals, to say the least. And it sounds like they’re going to limp into the end of the year with their fourth starting quarterback getting the nod this weekend.
Head coach Kliff Kingsbury announced Friday that while Colt McCoy cleared the concussion protocol earlier this week, he had “some symptoms show up yesterday after practice” and “out of an abundance of caution we decided to sit him this week and we’ll start David Blough Sunday.”
The Cardinals signed Blough a few weeks back, snagging him from the Minnesota Vikings, who had him on their practice squad.
Blough is best known for his stint with the Detroit Lions. The former Purdue star spent time with the Cleveland Browns practice squad as well as the Vikings’. He’s amassed 1,033 career passing yards with four touchdowns and seven interceptions. Blough completed 54. 4 percent of his passes and posted a career QB rating of 62.2.
Trace McSorley, who started last week’s 19-16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will back up Blough.
Blough will be the fourth starter on the year for Arizona, following the injured Kyler Murray, McCoy, and McSorley.
