Donald Trump has made waves with his abrasive and divisive politics, but in an ironic twist the Republican Presidential candidate could be the man to ease the tensions between a few of the NFL’s most heated rivals.
It was announced on Monday that Buffalo Bills Head Coach Rex Ryan will introduce Trump at a campaign rally in Buffalo later that night. Ryan did not go so far as to endorse Trump, but he did say he was “100 percent” behind New Jersey Governor Chris Christie — who endorsed Trump’s campaign in February.
Ryan’s almost endorsement of Trump sparked jokes and vitriol on social media, but it could be a real turning point in AFC East relations.
"Who should introduce you tonight?"
"Well…my entire campaign is based on empty bluster and misplaced machismo…"

Ryan has long been the bane to the New England Patriots’ existence dating back to his time with the New York Jets. However, quarterback Tom Brady and Head Coach Bill Belichick are also friendly with Trump. Brady was spotted with a “Make America Great Again” hat in his locker last season, and Belichick counts the Republican frontrunner as a “good friend.”
Perhaps the trio can bond over the shared affinity for Trump in the offseason instead of their usual song and dance of public insults and accusations.
However, Trump is not bringing the Bills and their head coach any closer together. The team released a statement Monday afternoon distancing themselves from Ryan’s involvement with the rally.
