This week, NFL teams across the league are beginning their mandatory minicamps. However when the New Orleans Saints kicked off their minicamp, veteran star defensive end Cam Jordan was not in attendance. But it does not sound like the team is too concerned about it.
During his press conference on Wednesday afternoon, New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen was asked about the absence of Cam Jordan, and he made it clear that it was an excused absence, implying that the team decided to give the veteran defensive lineman some time to rest this offseason.
“I call it old age related, but Cam’s fine. He’ll be fine,” Allen said with a smile, according to Pro Football Talk.
Jordan has already had a legendary career with the New Orleans Saints even before reaching retirement age. The defensive lineman has played his entire career with the team after he was selected in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
So far, Jordan has appeared in 192 games for the Saints, which is the fourth-most in franchise history. If he remains healthy and plays throughout the 2023 season, he’s expected to move into sole possession of second on the list of most games as a Saint, behind only Drew Brees who has 228.
Needless to say, it seems he’s earned some rest.
