The WNBA has been without Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark for much of the season as she has dealt with injuries since what has seemed like the onset of the 2025 campaign. Fans were hopeful that Clark would be able to return to the field in time for the playoffs at the very least, especially after she returned to basketball activities earlier this week.
Unfortunately, the superstar point guard had devastating news to share with fans on social media.
“I had hoped to share a better update, but I will not be returning to play this season. I spent hours in the gym every day with the singular goal of getting back out there, disappointed isn’t a big enough word to describe how I am feeling. I want to thank everyone who had my back through all the uncertainty. This has been incredibly frustrating, but even in the bad, there is good. The way the fans continued to show up for me, and for the Fever, brought me so much joy and important perspective. I am so proud of how this team has only gotten stronger through adversity this year. Now it’s time to close out the season and claim our spot in the Playoffs,” Clark posted on Twitter.
Fans reacted to the brutal news on social media.
“You waited until the first game of the NFL season to announce this so you could try to steal the spotlight. Not cool,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“As saddened and disappointed as I am, I know that’s nothing compared to what you are feeling. May your recovery be speedy and complete. When you are ready, we will be here,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“We love you Caitlin!!! My fam continued to go to games, buy even more fever merch, and support the team after your injury. I use your CC wilson journey ball every single time i hoop,” another fan added.
Hopefully, Clark comes back next season better than ever.
