Alabama quarterback Bryce Young is expected to be a high selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. ESPN analyst and commentator Dan Orlovsky thinks so highly of him that he’s already comparing the Heisman winner to two-time defending NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers.
During the Cheez-It Bowl, Orlovsky started gushing after the mere mention of Young, saying that the college football QB reminds him of the Green Bay Packers signal-caller.
“I’m such a fan of Bryce Young’s. Probably the favorite guy of mine to watch in college football this season,” said Orlovsky. “He actually for me is the closest guy that we have since Aaron Rodgers came out of the draft when it comes to just the natural talent.”
Young may indeed end up being a very impressive quarterback in the NFL. But, as we all know, there’s a lot of peril in comparing unproven QBs to proven NFL stars. There’s a spot on the Freezing Cold Takes Twitter account set aside for comparisons like this, depending on how it all shakes out.
Only time will tell if Bryce ends up living up to the hype or if he’s the latest in a long line of “sure thing” quarterbacks picked in the first round only to end up becoming busts. Until then, the hype train has left the station and Dan Orlovsky is the conductor.
